The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City serves 10,000 urban youth each year at eight Club locations with before and after school care during the school year and all day care during school holidays and the summer months.

During the summer of 2007, Summer Camp at the Clubs will be offered at the five community-based sites – Thornberry, East Side, Wyandotte County, Leslie, and Hawthorne. Membership in the Boys & Girls Clubs is open to all urban youth (ages 5-18) in Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas, and Independence, Missouri.

Upon arrival at the Club each day, Club members are grouped according to age. Each group experiences twenty youth development programs each summer under the umbrella of five core areas: Character/Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; Education and Career Development/Technology; Sports, Fitness, and Recreation; and the Arts.

Each program has been developed nationally by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is delivered by trained youth development professionals in an environment designed for kids.

In addition to programs within the Club, Summer Camp at the Clubs participants experience field trips through the metropolitan area at least once each week.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City is a United Way agency. Three of the five Club units mentioned above are licensed by the state of Missouri or Kansas.
