Horizon Academy is a fully accredited private school (ISACS, NCA, KS & MO) serving students in grades 1-12. Our students have average or potentially average intelligence and yet they struggle within the academic environment. We use innovative instructional programs including research-based and multi-sensory strategies that help students learn and compensate for their difficulties. An individual educational program is designed for each student that encompasses the whole child. Our curriculum includes remedial and social learning skills as well as technology training to work towards a successful transition to a traditional school, and we are the only program of its kind in the Kansas City area. Beyond the intimate classroom setting, with a student-teacher ratio of 6 to 1, Horizon Academy offers ancillary services including occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, counseling, and physical and artistic education.

During camp this summer, Horizon Academy is offering a variety of options. Students in grades 1-8 may take advantage of the various clinics or our full-day Summer School Program. This program matches Horizon Academy’s school year. During this time, students will have classes in reading, written and oral language, handwriting, math, and computers. Students will also work on learning strategies such as time management and social skills. Occupational therapy and speech/language therapy will be included for students needing these services.
